Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our AC Panels

What is an Aircon AC Panel, how do they work?

Our custom-sized, clear acrylic panels provide a seamless solution for venting portable air conditioners through casement and sliding windows. Made from rigid, high-quality acrylic, these panels are designed to fit precisely over your window opening.

The panels attach to the inside frame perimeter using industrial-strength Velcro, allowing for easy removal and reusability. Depending on your AC unit, a precisely cut hole is included in the panel to accommodate the exhaust hose connection, ensuring efficient airflow while maintaining a secure, streamlined setup.

What are the advantages of using an Aircon AC Panel?

Aircon AC Panels are designed to maximize your portable AC’s cooling efficiency by ensuring hot exhaust air is properly vented outside. The secure seal created by our panels prevents warm outdoor air from re-entering your home, helping your AC run more effectively and efficiently.

Additionally, our panels provide several key benefits:

  • Improved energy efficiency – By sealing the window opening, your AC doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain a cool temperature.
  • Reduced outside noise – The rigid acrylic panel acts as a barrier, minimizing outdoor sounds for a quieter indoor environment.
  • Clean and professional appearance – Our clear acrylic design blends seamlessly with your window, offering a sleek and polished look.
  • Removable and reusable – The Velcro attachment system allows for easy installation, removal, and reinstallation when needed.

With an Aircon AC Panel, you get a simple, effective, and visually appealing solution for optimizing your portable air conditioner’s performance.

How AC window panels connect to the window frame with velcro tape

We apply 1″ wide velcro(Hook) adhesive tape around the perimeter of the frame of the window opening. The panel will also have velcro(loop) around their perimeter. The panel will securely connect when pressed together. It provides a secure hold, but the panels can be easily installed or removed as needed.

What is the lifespan of the velcro tape?

Our commercial grade velcro (hook & loop) adhesive is strong and durable. Under normal conditions, it will last for years. Excessive heat caused by operating the AC with the window less that 8″ open can cause the velcro to melt or become damaged. In some cases this can cause the panel to disconnect. Reapplying velcro may be required. If this occurs, we offer repair at $85.00 per window. Alsways ensure your window is fully opened when operating the AC.

Are AC Panels precisely fit to each window?

Yes, every window is unique and requires precise measurements. During our in-home demo visit, our technician will take accurate measurements to ensure a perfect fit. Each panel is custom-built to match your window’s exact specifications.

Why do portable ACs with round exhaust hoses work best with our AC panels?

Portable ACs with round hoses (13cm, 15cm, or 16cm in diameter) are the best fit for our panels because they allow for a secure and seamless connection. We provide a custom-designed nozzle at no additional cost, replacing the one that came with your AC. This nozzle ensures a better, more secure fit and can be easily removed from the panel with a simple twist, making it both effective and convenient for long-term use.

How are AC's with oval dual-hose (Danby) connected to our AC Panels?

Connecting (Danby) dual-hose ACs to our panels requires extra time and customization to ensure a secure fit. We use the Adapter Plate that comes as an accessory with your AC hose. This adapter is mounted directly onto the panel, with a precisely cut oval opening to accommodate the connection. Once installed, the adapter remains fixed to the panel, allowing the dual-hose system to securely connect by attaching the two adapters together. This setup ensures a reliable, airtight seal for optimal AC performance. There is an additional $15 fee with these AC’s.

Can I lock the window with the AC Panel on?

In most cases, yes. Due to the many window and AC variations, it is best to confirm this during your initial visit with our Technician

Will rain water come into the unit if the window is open and the Panel is in on?

We have never heard of this happening, windows are designed to keep rainwater from coming inside. As well, the panel provides protection and covers the window.

How much does a AC Panel weight?

Our acrylic panels are lightweight, weighing approximately 0.1 ounces per square inch. To estimate the weight of your panel, multiply its width by height to determine the total square inches, then multiply that number by 0.1. This will give you the approximate weight in ounces.

Can I share one AC panel between two windows that are the same size?

If the windows are exact in size and the latches and or handles are in the same position. It is possible. Although regularly moving the panel back & forth between windows may wear out the adhesiveness of the velcro. There is an additional $15 fee to apply velcro to each additional window.

If you are using a Dual Hose AC this is not recommended. When we create panels for these types of AC’s we insert the adapter that comes with the unit to the window.  The nozzles on these types of AC’s are fragile and often the clips will break off.

Can one AC be shared between multiple rooms?

Yes, this is possible and many customers use this feature. Speak with our Technician during the initial site visit for confirmation.

Do AC Panels help block outside noise?

Our panels are made with 4mm acrylic and are connected to the window frame with Velcro. The combination of these two features do prevent sound from coming through the window. But they are not as sound dampening as your closed sealed window. Many of our customers are happy with the noise dampening effect the panel has covering the window.

AC Hose Questions

What if my AC Hose is broken or falling apart?

AC vent hose will become brittle over time. This will cause them to break or crack. We have you covered and sell high quality hose in 13cm or 15cm (the most common sizes) lengths are available from 6′ to 24′ lengths.

What if my AC Hose is too short to reach my window?

This is a common challenge for some windows. If your hose is 13cm (5.2″) or 15cm (5.9″) in diameter you can purchase a custom length hose from us. Lengths available from 6′ to 24′ in length.

If you have a dual hose AC unit, this can be a problem as there is no extension option. Consult your technician for onsite advise during the initial inspection.

What if the nozzle disconnects from the hose that Aircon Supplied?

Aircon Rescue supplies its own designed nozzle that connects between the exhaust hose and the AC panel for hoses with diameters of 13, 15 and 16cm. Our technicians connect them to the hoses during the install. All AC hose nozzles require patience and diligence connecting to the hoses and ours is no different. Most of the time they will connect easily, but they can be challenging at times. If the nozzle disconnects. It is the customs responsibility to reconnect it. We can provide instructional videos if required. Our Service Call rates start at $85 if our technician is required to return to reinstall the hose.

Why dual hose AC units can be a problem for casement windows?

These units are efficient and operate quietly, making them a great choice for sliding windows, as their included window kits work well in those setups. However, for casement windows, they can pose a challenge, potentially leading to overheating and frequent shutdowns.

These ACs use an oval dual-hose system, where one vent exhausts hot air from the compressor, while the other pulls in air to cool the compressor and refrigerant. The issue arises when a casement window cannot open more than 10 inches. In this case, the hot exhaust air can hit the window, bouncing back into the intake vent, causing the compressor to overheat and shut down repeatedly.

For casement windows with limited opening space, we recommend using single-hose portable AC units to prevent this issue. Additionally, when using our AC Panels, if the hot exhaust air is unable to vent directly outside, temperatures exceeding 140°F from the exhaust can weaken the Velcro adhesive securing the panel, leading to potential detachment.

Random Questions

Is there an airtight connection between the AC Panel & window frame?

No, our panels do not create a air-tight seal to the window frame. We use a hook & loop (Velcro) attachment system. There is air that can pass through the material, but it is minimal and will not affect the efficiency of your AC unit. There can also be a small gap between the window panel around the tabs on the window locks.

Will your acrylic panel protect my cat from getting through the panel?

Protecting pets from the heat is a major motivation for many of our customers. Another benefit of our panels is that your curious cat will find it impossible to get through our securely attached acrylic window panels.

Do you offer a warranty on the panels?

No, we do not. If damage occurs, there would be a full charge to replace it. The panels are strong while in place but can easily be damaged when not handled with gentle care. All our AC panels are installed in perfect condition. We rarely hear feedback from customers about damages from cracks, but it can happen if its mishandled. Cracks can occur either by impact or tugging the nozzle in the panel. Cracks may also occur if the panel is not carefully handled. Always handle you panel with gentle care and do not put pressure on the hoses or nozzle.

Our service is top notch and we will go out of our way to support you if any problems arise.
